Should have bought a used engine?
So do you have a question or should I move this into the rant section?
did ya oil smell like gas, did ya have water mixing, did you prime the oil pump, was the bearings over torqued, was the bearings good from the beginning? why i ask because ive been thru this over the course of the past three months.. and finally up and running
Sounds to me like whoever did those rebuilds didn't know wtf they were doing.
Well there's your problem.
It may sound stupid but is your belt wrapped around the front or the back side of the water pump pulley. It should wrap around the front. YES it is possible to put it on with the right belt and everything work properly but the water pump will spin backwards and basically cavitate the coolant and it wont flow properly, plus the thermostat will act like a damn and make things worse when its flowing backwards. Just a thought I have heard of this before. Repeat engine grenades sounds like installed error.
^^^ if they dont CHANGE oil a few times when putting a rebuilt engine in a few times they shouldnt be around wrenches! Also from what ive heard engines should be ran with high zinc oil when rebuild the 1st few weeks.
