robots, and its so much easier to have the whole cat back as one big piece for the assembly line.
Southern state cars wont rust out the mufflers.
A local mom and pop muffler shop wont charge alot to have some new ones welded up.
I should say, ALOT less likey to rust out. Can it happen... sure, but not like the cars up here.
They dont have salt or snow (winter).
Thrush turbo's are a decent muffler and you can get them at advance auto for about 30 bucks each. My friend put them on his T-bird and they were quieter than his stocks.
The Walker exhaust is usually what comes up as far as factory replacements, but if the mufflers are anything like the resonator, they're not worth it. I bought the Walker resonator for my car because I wanted it quiet, but I soon realized it was just an overpriced glasspack and it's a fair amount louder than stock.
the easy way to work on your exhaust is to remove it. break the 2 bolts that hold the cat to the cat back, yes they will snap off or need to be cut off, as they rust like mad. and you will need a new res to cat gasket, break that free, then remove all the rubber hangers.
my res was rotted out, so took the clamp off, and cut 3 lines into the res inlet tube with a cut off wheel. and pried the tube back and beat it off the pipe.
picked up a glass pack and had a flange welded on to it.
then slapped it all back in the car.
