so I started having an intermitent problem of my car not wanting to release my key after reading up i found the lock cylinders are touchy about the car being in park so tilting the steering wheel up and than shifting to park gave me no issues. than my car died while driving for a brief moment the tcs and oil light came on power steering died and within about 4 seconds everything kicked back on . I loked into it more alot of people told me my ignition switch could be bad. After driving it home that night i went to move it from one side of the road to the other and it would not start or release the key using the unlock button on column i took the key out. the next day I went to take out the ignition switch to install the new one and about done I realize im missing the t5x torq bit so rather than leave everything open I reconnected all the harnesses and assembled the column and the key came right out so I plug the battery in and voila the car fires right up. now yesterday after driving around all day with no issues starting or dieing i go to move car into driveway and nothing it kicks on for a moment than dies than doesnt even kick on than locks my keys in ignition and gives me no signs of any power ie. key fob interior lights. so I unplug the battery and go out to it again this morning plug it in and it fires right up for me. a friend said it what the car should be doing basically it resets the pcm runs fine discovers an issue and dies or won't start. They chevy dealership told me there was no sense in bringing it in if it was running and had no lights on for a diagnosic as it wouldn't show anything. one thing I did notice is that when the battery was being plugged back in there was a hissing coming from the fuse box for a few moments. I checked all the fuses and they all appeared to be good.
so im at my whits end I know somethings wrong i dont know how resetting the pcm is fixing the problem or what is causing it. any help at diagnosing would be very appreciated as driving around risking having to reset my pcm anytime i turn off my car or even worse having that stop working as a hotfix entirely is driving me mad
the car is a 98 grand prix gtp 2 door only mods are straight pipes from the cat back and a cf hood
p.s. I had my battery tested the first day I was at a no start and it was still good I spent close to 300 bucks on the battery so I cant imagine it dieing on me after one season
