wrapping headers is asking for cracked manifolds and cracked headers.

Find me some header companies that suggest using header wrap.

Looking at intake temps is for chumps.

Header wrap will make them rust and crack.

Leave it be and look at your shiney headers while they last.

    Yes.

Want me to grab pics of my headers after 1 year of normal minnesota weather?

Surface rust everywhere that see water and snow. My front header, crossover and rear header went from gold to purple to now have very small surface rust spots and the the downpipe is all surface rust because it see's rain and snow and salt and everything else.

First off, what headers are you using? If they are ebay, then don't trust the stainless to be stainless 304.

Secondly, you're looking at causing more harm than good wrapping them, between cracking the headers, and causing lots of rust.

Now, as for an actual response. Get them Ceramic coated inside and out, and be happy.

Hey man i know everyone here is gonna bust your balls for the header wrap, and probably mine too now but i used header wrap on a 3100 motor with stock manifolds. The difference is insane on the 3100 motor where the exhaust is even closer to the radiator and tb than the 3800, "between my grand am and gtp atleast" Havent done it to my l67 yet but im curious to hear how that goes for yo as ive been debating doing it. If u live in a place that gets cold i wouldnt do it though, the coldest it gets here is about 40 and it can take a long time to warm up even in traffic. I just used whatever autozone had on the rack, u can litterally drive the car for hours on a hot day pop the hood and wrap ur hand around the manifold and not burn urself. Even the upper intake stays cool enough to not burn you anymore. The header wrap package will tell you that you need to purchase special clamps for installation, i just used regular hose clamps and theyve been fine. But the guys on here are alot more knowledgable and experienced with these things than i am, so dont go out and crack ur heads because of my experience. Goodluck!

You've convinced me not to wrap them. I'm going to take the heat shields off my stock exhaust and put them on my headers. That should make a difference.

Stainless is stain less. Better grades last longer but all can still rust. 304 is pretty good, 316 is better.

What about just wrappuing the crossover? I have been thinking about doing this seems it goes right under the tb and my open cone. Just wrapping a small section is really that bad?
Open cone, SSAC headers, cat delete, 8.5 MSD wires, 3.4 zzp mps, 180*, 104's, ported blower, DHP canned tune, 19" XXR 962s, DNA springs.

What does it really matter? These threads always get down to "the blower is going to heat the air anyway". Then the CAI vs. Cone battle to the death ensues.
    true story.

If you want to do it go ahead. Problem can happen near welds, not just welds from making headers, the tubing is welded also.
