Just wondering what thoughts r about dropping to a 3.5 pulley without any mods. The dealers service guy says it's fine without any other changes unless I wanna go smaller...

You could do it, but its HIGHLY unadvisable!

You should at the very least, have a better CIA system, whether it is a do it yourself job or an aftermarket one. Also I think the 07's still have a U Bend in the exhaust piping after the Catback, I cant remember 100%, but I am sure someone with an 04+ can tell you better.

And if you do it, make sure you get the car scanned after doing so. You dont want your newer GP blowing up on you.

A CIA is a Cold Intake Air. Otherwise known as a Cold Air Intake.

I wouldn't do the 3.5 until you get a CAI and open up the exhaust a little more.

Does the same go for an 02 model? I was looking to change the pully to a size smaller because I read somewhere where you can and not have to change PCM or heads. I have a CIA but stock exhaust.

these cars are like humans just because we all have eyes and ears, dosent mean that we can see and hear like everyone else.

the best thing you can do for your car is SCAN, i might be able to run a 3.3" pulley and someone with the same mods ,ight only to be able to run a 3.5" pulley.

I would advise 07 GPGT to invest in the MPS pulley system and a 3.6 and 3.6" pullies, and make friends with someone that has a scanner and then check for KR. Chances are you WILL have it, prolly even with the stock pulley!!

Heads? You won't need heads unless you are planning a crazy cam or turbo setup. They are always nice but if you spent 2 grand on heads and another guy spent 2K on other mods...you'd get bent over

Dropping pulley sizes is the last thing you really want to do modding wise. I would say since you already have a CAI then get a 180* or a 160* Thermostat, Colder Spark Plugs (Autolite 104's or NGK TR55's), a 3" Downpipe and U-Bend Delete, DHP/Overkill PCM, THEN....you should be good to drop to a 3.4"

the less boost and more timing you can run without knock is the best. if i could run 40* of timing WOT with 8 pounds of boost i would do it.

Thanks. Im glad I found this site because I would have just bought the next size down pulley and then went from there.

Actually they say for a 04+ you SHOULD put headers for the 3.4 (thats not crazy cam or turbo! lol) I know we all have the "same" car but there is some difference between a 04+ and the older body style. Like our cars didn't have the UBend...lol thats one thing pontiac got smart about!
