engine decided to drop a valve and the engine tried to compress it. piston didnt like that, so.....BAM went the engine. Found a used one from a 2003 GTP with 70,001 miles. doing a tear down and its getting all new gaskets etc...im letting the rockers go and going CAM! What kind of gains should I expect with a VS cam? I already have 90 springs and dont want to do any head work. What are your thoughts. What is the biggest cam I can go without head work?
    thanks

Do an s1x with 105s. Run a stock chain and you'll have alot of fun with it. But also, you can make dam good numbers with a vs for sure.

I would run the xp cam from zzp. A lot of people use it and have pretty good results with it.

What is required for the XP cam? I already have 90# springs from the Yella Terra set up. Will these be strong enough? I also purchased a Cloyes timing chain (single) and Cloyes dampner. Will the retainers from the YT set up work?

Vs makes similar power under the curve and is easier on the valvetrain.

S1x its faster at the track thus the XP is a poor choice.

Unless you're after sound. Then you should use a nic or gt2.

By cloyes, do you mean stock? If so yes, that'd be ideal. Just check tensioner in 30-40k.

Lsx retainers are required for those valve springs.

So....., the cloyes is going to replace the stock chain and dampner. i have ordered these. Are the LSX retainers that you speak of the same as the retainers that I purchased for the YT rockers? And are the 90# springs good enough. Sounds like I need to go with the SX1. Where do you get the SX1?

S1X and XP are relatively the same for power. S1X is Intense, XP is ZZP. The retainers you used should be the LSX/Modded retainers.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

This buddy ran 105's on an S1X on his Bonne before going further and further. I loved the S1X, but the reality is...XP and S1X are nearly the same.

Yet...most of us drive on the street. For the little bit that it might be faster and being a bigger fan of Intense than ZZP (based on customer service that I received) I should be the first to push in one direction. Yet..if a deal came up on an XP, I'd suggest he takes it.

then run the vs. its cheaper and more dd friendly both to drive and on the timing set.

You'd be a fool to run aftermarket valve springs on a single chain and tensioner setup.....

Jason, you toss that out there... you feel that way about even something like the L76 springs? I was mentioning the CGP typically accepted info.

You'd be a fool to run a double roller without ensuring it fits properly and having the gears hardened after machining.
