    Hello, all! I'm well-established over at W-Body.com but need some more specific tech help on my GTP. I'm looking for some information on the '97 PCM in particular. I have a generic ELM327 Soliport Bluetooth scantool, it works properly, but I want to see my KR readout and it does not provide data. I have the option to define a PID, but I'm honestly thinking the GTP's '97 PCM will not allow me to check this.

    A little background: car has 222k on the whole, was highway driven and in great shape (other than the damn rocker rust all these cars seem to get, hidden by the body cladding at least). I've added a cone filter and a 180* t-stat. Other than that, I'm interested in doing the u-bend delete and not too much else. If I get ambitious I might do a pulley swap, but with the car's transmission history being a big question mark I'm not too keen on doing much else. The car runs like a top, shifts wonderfully and has never let me down other than the fuel pump, which I've replaced on the cheap simply replacing the actual pump with one from a Park Avenue Ultra. Yes, this is probably not the best route, but having very little money at the time, I opted for a $30 fix rather than a $170 fix. I am getting a P0171 code, and I do not think I have any vacuum leaks.

    As mentioned, I have a cone straight off the MAF. Any reason this is a bad idea for a daily-driven vehicle? I'm not looking to run 12's, but is this bad for the engine or fuel economy? The '97 intake was so crappy I thought it would be better to remove it.

    the filter location is fine.


    Being pretty much 100% stock, you prolly have around 5-6* of KR at WOT, which is normal for a stock car.

    You can pretty much get rid of all of it with a set of headers, because the stock manifolds and downpipe are very restrictive.

    all tho i'm not 100% sure i thought that scan tools didnt show KR. now i didnt research the one you listed but i know someone can easily pay 2 grand for a scan tool that shows abs stuff and everything so i could be wrong about scan tools not showing KR. if they dont then you need to get a tuner and i'm assuming those show KR.

    What app are you using with the OBD2 BT? Torque app for Android has the PID for Grand Prix's and also shows KR. I purchased the full version ($5), so for $25 total, I've got whatever gauges I need, lol...

    It also records data/scans, I use CSV format so I can look at it in MS Office...
    check the Torque app webpage/forum, there's info there.

    If you're throwing a P0171 code (lean fuel condition), that pump you put in might not be doing you any favors... but I'd refer to some more knowledgeable people here on the forum.

    I'm using Dashcommand with iPhone. It works pretty well, I've recorded a couple drives and watched them in ScanXL, but the engine knock voltage PID is not available. Timing advance is reading though, is that what I should be looking at?

    The program needs to support the correct PID's.

    Filter on TB can result in slightly skewed MAF readings.

    Should try to have a little bit of pipe before the maf, but its not really a concern for a stock car.
