Hi (this is my first post)

I have a 2008 Grand Prix GXP and I'm having an issue with the sunroof. A month or so ago, I drove through some pretty high water and I know I shouldn't have.. So that day we had a lot, lot of rain. So a few days later I noticed my car was stinky and since I'm the only one ever really in my car in the drivers seat, I didn't notice until I bought groceries and dropped them in and heard a splash in my passenger side (front and back) were SOAKING wet. Since there wasn't really an odor (other than mildew smell) I figured maybe there was a hole and water got in through the bottom. Not the case.

A week ago, we got bad rain again and I only drove it a bit through no deep water at all and once again my car was soaking wet. I thought it was from the windshield since I saw a lot of posts about this and I did was I seen in some posts to seal it but it rained the next day and yet again I got rain in my car. A mechanic hinted to me about the sunroof.

I'm hoping this is the fix. I realized it was sort of aiming to the carpet. I just don't understand if this tube is just supposed to hang down loosely in that small hole? Since I really didn't know, I decided to check the driver's side. So I did, and the driver's side has a lot more sponge??? in there and I also found a LOT of water just sitting in that small well or whatever that hole is. So it didn't help at all and now I don't know if my passenger side is "fixed" by just hanging in that hole or if the driver side (which I didn't have a problem with) is really messed up? Does anyone have any input? I just don't want to pay to go to a mechanic for something that doesn't seem too complicated.

    marlize,

Dirt and debris may collect on the sunroof seal or in the tracks that could cause an issue or plug the water drainage system.

Open the sunroof and remove any obstacles or loose debris. Verify that the module drain holes are not plugged. Wipe the sunroof seal and roof sealing area using a clean cloth, mild soap and water. Do not remove grease from the sunroof.

If this does not resolve the issue, I encourage you to take the vehicle in to be inspected by a certified technician. They will be able to offer you additional information after a physical inspection.

If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact me.

Had this same problem in my '01. Ended up being clogged tubes, I got them blown out with an air compressor at the shop (be careful about using really high pressure, you may blow the tubes off) and it's been dry ever since. Pretty easy to test, just park on a level surface, open the sunroof, and pour a little water into the drain channels at each corner. Whatever corner of the car doesn't have water under it after a few seconds, is clogged.

Did you ever get your problem resolved? Just discovered this on my 2008. I pulled kick plate and carpet away on passenger side and inside a hole where some wiring went thru that appears to be inside the car panels was a black hose just dangling.....seems it should be placed somewhere else?? My floorboard is soaked. I also believe I have a leaking windshield in the upper passenger side corner as water comes in at every car wash right where the sun visor attaches and starts spreading....
