So I have a 1995 Grand Prix SE with a 3.1 and like every 1 out of 3 starts it baaarely starts and when it does it revs up to 3000-4000 rpms then slowly will go back down to idle. Does anyone know what could be causing this?

Sounds a bit like a maf, vacuum leak etc. Being the super awesome 3.1 I'd look for vacuum leaks first. Like right on top of the TB. Taht stellar vacuum setup should be in teh world of fail.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

The check engine light is on randomly and now sometimes a little rubber piece connecting some tube to the pcv valve will blow off when i try to start it and white/light gray smoke would come out. I can just put it back on and it starts fine though. I don't get paid for awhile though so I couldn't get anyone to hook up a computer to get any codes. They said that the smoke is exhaust and it is most likely happening because I have a clogged catalytic converter and it's building up back pressure. Am I going to hurt my engine if I don't replace the cat soon? Because they said I shouldn't worry about replacing it unless I need to pass emissions or my engine starts to lose accelerating power. (they zip tied that rubber piece so it won't come off anymore also) Thanks for all the feedback too
