I'm thinking you should start checking on either a head gasket or lower intake manifold gasket.its not warming up because of the lack if coolant that are probably going into cylinders 1 and 3 and causing them to miss.
Let it sit fir a while and change the oil. When my head gasket blew I got probably a quart of Coolantd before any oil because of how they seperate

Do a search on LIM gasket replacement (Lower Intake Manifold) there is even videos on youtube...
My car was doing the exact same things when I bought it.
Change the intake gaskets, and maybe the upper intake plenum, they can crack or warp.
Flush the coolant system as best as you can.
Change the spark plugs...
Change the oil.
If there is any coolant in the oil, DONT DRIVE IT.... you will destroy the bottom end of the engine.

I'd just change the lower intake gasket. Head gaskets are super rare to go out on these motors.
I made sure to check the oil its fine, My mechanic said it was throwing a thermostat code so I'm going to change that, and spark plugs it has a slight LIM leak but he said he wouldn't worry about it but I will probably change that also.
He wouldn't worry about a leaking LIM gasket?? I guess he'll worry about it when it spins a bearing and destroys that motor, lol... Yes, go ahead and replace the LIM gaskets with the new updated ALUMINUM ones from GM. And do the plug wires as well because 99% of the time when you remove one of the back ones it rips from the boot and makes it useless. Just have a new set onhand and you'll be good to go.
How hard it it to do the gaskets yourself I don't have much money can't afford to pay labor right now so if I wanted to do it myself what is the difficulty level? and now my service traction light is on
Its really easy, I did mine in about 3 hours with just a socket set, a few wrenches, razor blade for scraping the old gaskets off...
The gaskets will cost you though.... I think about 45 for the UIM gasket, and depending on which option you choose - 20 to 75 for the LIM gasket...
Hmm lol Is there a forum that tells you step by step on how to do it and I would rather pay that then that plus labor.
What "option" are you referring to on the LIM gaskets? There is only one option that I'm aware of- the aluminum ones. Don't install the same plastic junk that came in the car or you will be doing this all over again. And since he has a GTP he won't need the same UIM gasket as the N/A cars, so the price there may be lower.
And the "service traction" light may just be a bad wheel speed sensor. Try cleaning the harness at each wheel where they connect and see if it clears.
You will also need a torque wrench for the bolts, and some sealer for the LIM bolts to keep the coolant from wicking up the threads.
Well the Plastic gaskets are an option...
Obviously they fail. but most last 100K or more, so they obviously last a while..
May not be a great option, but it is one.
Thanks guys I'm gonna try tearing into it this coming week as far as the traction control I shut the car off and it cleared no more problems with that I will for be getting the aluminum gaskets because I don't wanna be going through this again. Thanks for you help any more help would be great still looking for a good step by step instructions do you guys recommend changing the thermostat too I'm probably going to anyway because Its not heating up correctly anyway just wondering.
