Hello community! Hope this is in the right place. Just replaced both headlamp assembly because the passenger side cover was cracked and both looked old. I ordered them from TKO Auto Parts through Amazon. TKO Auto Parts - and TKO Auto Parts - They came as a pair. Installation was smooth and I disconnected the battery just in case while I installed them. After installation I tested the headlights, high beams, parking lights, and tail lights. Everything worked fine. The next night I was out I turned off my headlights while driving to do something while the car was running and in drive. I tried turning them back on and they would not come on. All other lights still worked including high beams. The car recognized that I had them on but they were still not working. I messed around for 5min turning them on and off with different combinations of high beams on and off and finally they turned back on. Now days later they are acting up again. Sometimes when I start the car they come on like they should. (This is with the switch set to auto). I figured the headlights that came with the headlamp assembly were just junk so I replaced them with Sylvania 9005SU SilverStar Ultra High Performance Halogen Headlights, Pack of 2 Bulbs. Same issue is coming up. I'm thinking its fuse related or perhaps some wire in the steering column. Any help would be appreciated.

Check the grounds. Had a car where the ground for low beam headlight relay was bad and they wouldn't come on.

    I'm with him

On another note, do the headlights look as good as they do in the pics? Look just like factory? Mind posting pics? My headlights aren't horrible, but I'd really like to install new ones to clean up the look of the car.

And where can I find the ground for the low beams?

Headlights are brand spanking new. Looks exactly like the pictures and makes the car have a newer look. Definitely worth the money, as long as they work.

The headlight units themselves should have nothing to do with the bulbs. The only other issue I could forsee would be a faulty multi switch for the headlights.

What you need is a test light. If the headlights don't come on then you need to test for power at the headlight socket, and if no power there start tracing backwards.

And thanks for the review. Maybe after the holidays I'll look into a set.

I've never used a test light before. I'm wondering if it would just be easier to bring it into a shop and pray they don't charge too much because I need this done by Tuesday morning before I go to work in the dark.

Can't you just switch the power wires for highs and lows?

Test light is one of the easiest thing you could ever use. Its a ground wire and a probe to test for power. If there is power, the light lights up.

Shrug. Haven't done anything with my lights yet so I dunno about the Grand Prix wiring. But it WAS just that simple in the 01 Firebird I had.

I figured out the low beam bulbs are good. The fuses are good. The grounds are good. Also the old headlamp assembly units wont work now either. High beams, fog, and parking lights still working. The only thing I can see now that would be stopping them from working is the actual column piece that controls the lights. Someone else has mentioned that GM has common issues with this. Another source suggested a faulty parking brake that could cause the low beams and the DRL to not work.

Alright. So Final Update for this issue. Took it back in to the shop and they couldn't find any reason for it to not be working. Their theory is the light that determines if its night or day on the top of the dash is acting up when it should be on auto. They put a cap over the sensor and tested it multiple times and it seems to work. Basically it's tricking the sensor into thinking its always night out and so they come and stay on when its on auto. This of course is the quick fix for a part and labor that I'm guessing from a dealership could cost a lot more. So far so good. Thanks again for everyone's help and input. I appreciate it!

Just to let you know the "temporary fix" I posted days ago ended up not working. I still have no idea what the issue is. I'm taking it to a dealer tom morning. Sawt711, did you have any problems or possible causes leading up to them not working? Just curious.

Sounds exactly like what is happening with my daughter-in-laws car. Does anyone know where the headlamp module is located???

The headlamp module is called the HDM relay. It's in the underhood fuse box.

I applozgize for not seeing this thread sooner. That's always the problem. drls and low beams don't work it needs a new one.

My 2006 Grand Prix is doing the same thing. Everything works but the low beams. We have checked the fuses, bulbs, hdm relay. We also used the test light to see if fuse 3 and 4 get light and they do. I don't know what else to do. Could a corroded battery cables and posts cause this problem. Any advice would be appreciated

Does it always do it or intermittingly? if intermittingly, I would change the HDM relay.
