I have a 2008 GP Base model, put a Pioneer AVIC-X2 in a few years ago, worked great until last night... was driving and noticed it had not turned on with the car... pulled over shut the car down, opened the door to turn the RAP off... started it back up and it came on... ok good, well this morning its off again, tried the same thing... nothing dead

today, checked the 25 amp "Radio" fuse, looked fine, checked it with a continuity meter, checked out...

next thing RAP relay, it was clicking when the car turned on, not always a sign its good though, changed it with another relay same result, just to be sure changed it with the crank relay (since they are the same part) car started fine.... RAP relay is fine....

checked the voltage at the wiring harnes, 0v DC

so its not the head unit, its not the radio fuse, not the RAP relay.... not the head unit.... that else could it possibly be? anything I can check, or wires to follow that should have voltage i can put a meter on? thanks!

If you still have your stock head unit, see if it gets power.

You said you continuity tested the fuse, but did you test for voltage at the fuse?

03 GTP...Its got pulleys and stuff.

not exactly 100% sure how to do that, I tried to put the pos lead from the multimeter on one of the top legs of the fuse (the metal parts that are accessable from the top of the fuse) and tried to find a ground to test against but not sure if I got one or not tried against unpainted body metal and got 0v

sorry, I am an idiot, I had the multimeter pos lead on the wrong fused side of the meter... after catching that... radio fuse to ground is +14.5v so it has power at that point at least, where does the wire go from there? straight to the harness?

some more info..... just had the check engine light come on, but a reader on it and gave me an "intermittent sensor connection" forget the code, have to go back and check agian... but when I put the factory radio in it's buttons light up, but the radio doesnt power up (+12v vs RAP power i guess)

Edit: scan code is P0454 Evaporative Emission Control System Pressure Sensor Intermittent

If it was running then the 14.5v is normal. If you plugged in your factory deck and it lit up, your constant 12v is there, it's the switched 12v thats missing. Check your voltage at the yellow and red wire on the aftermarket harness.

0v... getting 0v from the same pins on the car's radio harness... onlu the ilummination pins have voltage

Yeah man thats really strange. If it were a short, you'd end up with some blown fuses. There must be a module between the factory harness and the fuse panel that is on it's way out.

Are you getting 0 volts to the power on wire or the power wire?

not sure what you mean, when I checked it I was checking from the factory harness orange wire (the RAP power) to ground and it had zero volts...

checked the radio location in the interior fuse box to ground and had +12v

checked RAP at the interior fuse box and had +12v

so what ever happened happened between the fuse box and the factory wiring harness plug

tap a new wire from the fuse box to the radio, see if it powers up?

yeah if you run a jumper wirse from the fuse box to it, works fine...

where does that wire run? does it run directly from the fuse box to the radio or does it go somewhere else first? don't want a short in the system if there is one, but if there is one makes me wonder what else is wrong since this worked fine for 3yrs now this
