Ok so Moms got no heat and shes OLD. 08 GP GT Last year she had 2 thermastats and 2 flushes and after that still no heat. It only goes halfway bettween the 2nd & 3rd line on the temp gauge which if I remember it should be at the 3rd line. I hear the door moving when I switch it from floor to face, ect. So any ideas? I just checked it and it was luke warmish. Any ideas so I can get her some heat before Chicago winter kicks in. Heater core? Could it be clogged after 2 flushes? Thanks fellers

3rd line means your trans is at ~220*. Stock tstat is 195* so where it's at is fine.
Can you hear the blower motor working?

Yea I can hear it and it blows on all the levels just not hot. Warm at best and its only 40* out. So I read the dexcool can build up deposites that a flush can't get out. So my only guess is that.

Not sure about the 04's + but, if theres a selector for pulling in outside air/recirculating the air...make sure its on the recirculating.
My Eclipse has great heat, but when it's set to pull in the outside air, it is lukewarm at best.
Just a thought. If not, let the engine run for sometime with the heater on full blast, and feel the feed/return lines to the heater core, if there's a substantial difference, I'd say there's your prollem

it could be the blend door actuator acting up, my quit working so i took them out, and have to manually turn the knob under the dash to get heat or a/c. you can take one off turn the knob both ways and see if it gets hotter or colder.

Well while were on the heater core talk. Which I REALLY think it may be even tho its a 07. The top hose is the feed in and the bottom is the return correct(lines going in the firewall)?
How much does it suck to replace and or how much in labor for all you techs out there that know how much people charge to do this ****.

i did my regals in about 2 hours i guess, lots of bending in ways you never thought possible to get to very small screws, it can be done, it just sucks.
i'd start with the actuators first, there not that hard to get to and test out.
they are separate of the air moving from, defrost, vent, floor. they just control the temp of the heat or a/c.
and if the core was bad you would have a fogged up windshield, and smell coolant,(maybe a wet floor) and be low in the radiator.

Personally I find it hard to believe an 08 could have built up that much sludge to block the heater core. That said may she have had some kind of failure that let air into the system, dex doesn’t like air.
The first thing I would check is the coolant level; she may have gotten short filled. And not enough coolant will do exactly as you described. The proper amount IMHO is the radiator completely full. Not “I see coolant down there..”, ensure it is topped off. Then check the overflow bottle has about 4-5 inches in it. A good way to check the bottle level is to poke a flashlight into the fill opening. If anything is low fill with 50/50 coolant, if you don’t know for sure what type of coolant is in there just use distilled water.
If your level is good, sounds like time for a new heater core. Good luck

not to bad, maybe 20 minutes a side to get them off, driver side is very tight, pass side is easy to get to, if you have dual climate control, do the pass side first, and see if you can turn the knob yourself, and get more heat.
you will need a 1/4 nut driver and small sockets to get the bolts that hold the actuator.

the gears break inside of them, so no.... it could only drive the gears one way till it hits the crack and then just skips.
its a 20 minute test, you can leave it bolted and plugged in and turn the temp to heat and back to cold, to see if it works too. (make sure the car is on) you can see a round part on the top turning when it works.
pass side you just need to remove the glove box. its like 3 or 4 small bolts. and have a flashlight handy, it helps when you are lost in the underside of a dash lol

So are these 2 actuators connected in some way or are they independent? Connected as in mechanically connectly( like a piece connecting them) or is it all electrical? Im gonna do some nighttime car fixin

At least you finally diagnosed it.
Now..wait for the car to cool. Undo both those hoses from the engine and grab your garden hose. Take the one that was warm and hit it with full pressure of the hose. Don't be bashful and expect that you're gonna get soaked.
If you can get water flowing..then keep it hammering and then go back and forth wtih the two hoses til you have nearly full flow of the water.
Hook them back up..run the car and top off the coolant. Hopefully that's all it takes.
