Does the coupler on the S/C snout fit tight against the guide pins? I have a tiny amount of movement in mine that I can hear when I rock the pulley back and forth. No rocks sound yet, no other issues, but I guess I'm thinking that if it is on its way out, now is a good time to address the issue.

should be very snug on there, like zero movement.

if you can feel it has play in the shaft, the coupler is on its way, mine had a pins width of wear in both directions of the original center hole, made a good racket at idle.

new is real tight, no play in it at all. got mine off e bay for 21 bucks shipped or so.

Thanks guys. I kind-of thought that. I'd rather do it now, than when I need it to be done, and it is really bad.

when putting new couplers in..I have found that the pulley is tough to turn by hand at first. It'll loosen up with a little oil splash and the engine turning it.

Just an FYI so you don't freak out when you swap it.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

    Great information. Thanks Bill.

Coupler just sits there, right? No fasteners.

Todd isn't with them anymore, as I learned last night. New ownership under John. In talking with him, I think the company is moving in the right direction. The John brings great honesty and integrity with him, which should really grow the company.

Seal is in, new coupler is in and I have one more pulley to change out as soon as I have a chance and I'll be back to having a GTP instead of my GT.

When I replaced mine I was skeptical it was causing the rock-tumbler noise coming from my snout. The stock coupler had a little play and I didn't believe it could be responsible for such noise. I was expecting giant egg-shaped holes when I first cracked it open.

    I was quickly proven wrong.

The pins should be a slip fit (like .0001" clear) with basically zero movement. If you can see any daylight between your pin and the coupler hole, your coupler is shot.
