So I've had this car since march and the only thing it says I get is 17.6-17.7mpg, doesn't matter city/freeway. Im pretty sure this isn't right. Now im sure you'll ask about my driving habits, well im def not driving ms. Daisy but im not racing it around town. 5-10 over speed limit at the most. Could this be fuel filter or o2 sensor? I've already tried reseting the d.I.c..

    Traffic?

    I get 14.0 being a hooligan.

    15.5 being a grandma.

    Due to traffic.

    Go cities.

They're never exactly the same as the dic. Use the normal pen and paper method if you want to find your mpgs.

I was driving a 2001 Cadillac Deville last week and I was averaging like 18.4 MPG, something's wrong.

I averaged 19-20 ish in the city today with the ac on full blast, but I was also very light on the peddle.

When I did the average on paper I found that my DIC was off by 1-2 average mpg (this was on my old GP though, not my new one) I haven't really taken the time to do the average on my new GTP though.

No traffic. And im not too keen on the pen and paper method to get down to the tenths of a gallon im using. The dic is close enough. I just thought id get more, but it sounds like some of you are getting worse than I am!?

try reseting the dic if you know you are going to be driving mostly highway, or mostly city. if you just let it run over months and months then it will just read your overall average

Also slow down some it will help your MPG. I drive 65 in a 70 to work because i don't want to get there early. But i drive 70 home because I want to get home and sleep. It's helped my mpg's some.

The problem with DICs is that when you're sitting at a long light, its recording 0 the whole time, which is one of the leading causes of inaccuracy. You can get down to tenths, hundredths and even thousandths of a gallon depending on the gas pump you're using if you know what you're doing with the pen and paper method...

I don't use the pen and paper method, I use the fill it up and hit the trip button method....aka the k.I.s.s method!

When was the last time the plugs and fuel filter were changed? Probably best to check them even if they were replaced recently.
