    Hello fello GTP enthusiasts.

I have a 1999 GTP. I recently had my battery die and I replaced it with a Optima yellow top. After replacing my battery, the DIC ( Information Center, Boost, Doors...ect ) has no display. I don't even see a faint display, it is just black. I would assume that it is dead and or something else is at play here.

How do I even start to diagnose this? I have been doing all of my own mods/work on my GTP since the beginning, but this is beyond me.

    Any input/thoughts would be great.

I would start checking fuses. Only thing I can think of is you arc'd a cable while changing batteries.

I thought about that. all the fuses in the fuse box seem ok. What about fusable links?

Only fuse-able links are going to the starter.

OK, so where do I start? All the fuses in the fuse-box are good. Do I just replace the unit? Or do I bite the bullet and take it to a GM dealership. This is not super necessary but I would like to see the boost gauge work again.

gpona.com has a service manual with wiring diagrams you can use after you register. I would start by checking for power to the info center.

A common issue a bad ignition switch is that the DIC doesn't work. If you have other power issues like radio or HVAC not working sometimes, you may want to consider replacing the ignition switch.

Interesting on the HVAC. My A/C is out ( figured it needed a charge ), and it doesn't seem to switch modes anymore I.E. floor to defroster. It seems to be stuck on defroster.

That is a different issue. The selector for the air deflectors is vacuum controlled.

Ok, so now I am back to not knowing what is going on. The HVAC system works fine, and I've never had any problems with the radio. I suppose I could just find a replacement online and take my chances. Has anyone replaced the DIC before? Just take the dash apart and remove the unit? I would assume there is just a couple of plugs/connections on the back of it?

Yep...just remove the dash bezel and there is a clip on each side of the DIC. Just push those in and remove the harness on the back of it.

03 GTP...Its got pulleys and stuff.

You could try doing a bench test.

Mine had this issue, and the vac line was cracked and caused it not to change so i just cut out the bad section of line and went to autozone and bought a foot of extra vac line a little bit bigger than the one in the car and slipped the two ends into it and, bam! fixed. But that was what was wrong with mine, it may be something else with yours.

It has been forever since I had the dash apart. How hard is it to get to the vacuum lines once I remove the front dash cover piece? How much deeper will I have to go?

You wont need to remove any vac lines to remove the dash bezel.

I know. I'm just wondering how much work it is to fix the vac lines once I have the dash apart. I'll most likely fix/look at the vac lines when I have it all apart.
