It's probably the blend door actuator again but i figure its worth asking.

A year ago i had it so it was cold on the drivers in the winter (w/ heater) and hot on the passengers side. I also noticed this winter that it started blowing to the defrost when it was supposed to be on the floor on the drivers side.

I replaced the drivers side actuator a year ago and it's a real PITA! I'm hoping it's not bad again. Are there other parts that can contribute to this? I have the Digital Dual Climate Controls which seems to make everything cost more to replace.

I'm getting fed up with just being cool on the drivers side and not COLD!

I keep my car on 60* all the time just to be comfortable and it freezes out my wife.

Any insight or idea's would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Probably the actuator, and probably not the actual door. If its the actual door, then you'd be wishing it was the actuator because you have to take out the dash to get at it. I was quoted at around $800 of labor.

Wow! It seems like it keeps getting less cold. I did some reading last night on google and it says sometimes this is caused by low Freon. I did have to get my car re-charged this year. I wonder if it's leaking still. I can handle the blend door actuator it's just a PITA!

I would have it checked for leaks and go from there.

Well this is annoying. It doesn't blow cold at all on the drivers now and the passengers is ice cold still. I'm gonna have it looked at. @&(*@#&(!@ I hate paying others to work on my car.

I have the same exact thing happening to my car right now.

Let me know what they say when you take it to someone to look at.

How much total did the actuator cost you before?

99% of the time the blend motor is a red herring.

You're low on freon I bet.

Get a can of it from the store for $20 (plus hose with gauge - you can get them as one for that price), put 1/2 a can in it, and you will find it better. A whole can will fix it.

This is EXACTLY what happened to mine.

I tore whole dash apart, confirmed the blend motor operation, all for something that could have been fixed in 5 min for $20.

1 can of freon and ~3 months later and it's still bitter cold from both sides.

Its cold as hell on the passengers side but not on the drivers. I had the system filled in May/June. It had leaked out.

    Exact same with mine.

I would have bet my house that my freon was fine and it was a mixture was the problem. Good thing I didn't - I was low (enough) to cause a warm driver side and cold passenger side.

You can get R134a at walmart - it's worth the minimal investment to rule out something simple.

Went and bought a can. The can said I'm full! FML 30 bux down the drain!

Took out the Left (Drivers) blend door actuator and let the car idle with the ac on. I messed with the door manually and its blowing decent cold out the left now but still not ice cold like the drivers side. I'm working with Morad to get a new part. The old one has no markings on it as it was a junkyard dog... They are all worn off.

If your ac ever has a leak in it just filling it is a band aid as it is a sealed system and should never need filled. It should never leak and if it did it needs to be fixed. Also the can won't tell you when your full it will just tell you what the pressure is in your system.

Ya i just talked to a family member that's a ASE certified Mech. He said rev it to 1500 then read me the gauge. It was 25psi. It should be closer to 35-40. I added almost the whole can and its alot cooler now. Gonna re-install the blend door actuator now. I might have to invest in some AC Gauges...

Damn it looks like you beat me to it.

Mine also said "full" at idle. I said what the hell and dumped 1/3 of a can in it. It was instantly cooler on the driver's side. With the whole can it was bitter cold on the driver's side.

I still think the blend motor was/is a red herring (for you and me).
