Started on the Gen V install a bit earlier today. Would of had it done a long time ago but we ran into a small problem and couldn't get the parts we needed to fix it with this late at night so we had to quit until tomorrow. All that is holding us up is my new style (99-03) alternator and bracket. So tomorrow morning I'm going to trade a buddy of mine out of his old style set-up and finish everything up then.

For now however, this is what I got.

    And heres..... our problem.

looks good man. Hey it looks like you are using the garlocks. ay want to put some gtv on both sides of the gasket on the upper and lower side of the ic. I had all my bolts tight and still had a damn vacume leak. Did you have an intercooler before? or is that new also?

Yup, always had an intercooler. In the first pics you can see the picture I took of my friend pulling a ZZP Stage 2 IC off.

Garlocks suck, and they are only on there temporarily until I feel the need to buy some Felpro ones.

where does your purge come out? did you use just your basic 1/8 NPT fitting and a -4 line?

You won't regret that GenV man. It'll put a smile on your face the first time you lay into it.

That sucks about where they have that fitting making contact or close contact to your alternator. They should of designed that better, and known better.

You'll love the GenV, its night and day to the GenIII's.

    Chris,

Dude, take it from me, buy the felpros or OEM GM gaskets! The Garlocks suck! My GFs car leaked within a short period of time, mine has twice and I done one other car that leaked shortly. All the installs I did I used RTV on both sides and they still failed. I've never had a problem with OEM gaskets to date, throw those garlocks in the trash where they belong. That reminds me, I gotta rid my car of those ****ty leaky garlocks here soon. Don't make the same mistake I did!

Otherwise, looks like a nice install! Can't wait to see finished pics. I'm curious how you'll route your IC lines. Are you running any kind of Res with the IC?

Also, is that an Intense/ILGPC core? If so those are perform pretty damn good, i'm very pleased with the one I got for Abbys car. Night and Day difference between the performance of the SS IC vs that. The ILGPC core makes the SS IC its ***** :-) . Nice find! You'll love it...
