Ok, I have an 05 GTP and now that it's getting warmer I've been using the a/c more. The other day I tried to hit the recirculation function on the control panel but it doesn't blow any harder or colder?? Im kind of stuck on what to look for, any help would be great.

I'm not sure that you actually have a problem...

    Recirc doesn't affect fan speed.

Recirc 'might' provide cooler air when the cabin is already conditioned. Not if you get in the car and the interior is at 120F.

Reciric literally just recirculates air opposed to drawing fresh outdoor air. It also uses the AC system.

it should blow harder when you hit the recirculation button, does the button light up still? it may be a fuse. i drive a regal mine lights up, not to sure about the grand prix

The fan speed increases when recirc is used?

I don't think recirc affects fan speed - I just think it sounds louder as you're hearing exhaust and intake in the same cabin.

You may also feel more airspeed as the incoming air via cabin has a shorter route (and less restricted flow).

But, my guess is that if you meter the actual shaft RPM of the blower motor that it's completely unaffected my recirc toggling.

Yes it does still light up. I know it's suppose to blow a bit harder but it doesn't. Every car that i've ever had always did that. I'll have to check out the fuses and see if I see anything out of the norm. Thanks

Blowing harder isn't necessarily a sign of motor speed.

AFAIK all recirc does, in ANY car, is activate a servo (vacuum or motor powered) to switch incoming air source via a valve/flap from ambient to cabin.

It sounds louder (faster) and feels faster, but the motor rpm is unchanged.

I have the same problem, given my A/C doesn't work due to a leak, but regardless recirculate doesn't change the sound of the blower what so ever, and it should if it works. If your fuse is ok, then look at this: Welcome To Sam's Web

It's probably your hvac's recirculate actuator gone bad, apparently it's pretty common on our 04+ GP's, I'm going to take mine out today just to see if I can fix it myself.

Oops, that's the homepage, here's a direct link so no one gets confused: http://home.comcast.net/~warren.family/AC.html

if you take the glove box out you can see that door.

hit the recirculation button and that door should close.

    yes, all cars really.

its not that the fan speeds up, but when you hit recirculate that door closes, cutting off the fresh air, the fan is now in a sealed environment and blows harder.

the recirculate button, is the same thing as setting a ford to max a/c.
