I just did LIM gaskets and figured I would install new o-rings on the injectors since the car has quite a few miles on it. I got 5 of the injectors completed but on the last one, the fiber washer on the bottom of the injector cracked while installing the new o-ring. Do I need to replace the injector? Does it have to have it or is it just there to keep the o-ring on the bottom? Thanks.

Doesn't that clip stop the oring from getting sucked into the engine? Mine cracked and I just replaced the injector.

not really, just gives it a place to sit. however, there are already grooves there for the injector. the boss for the injector isnt big enough to allow the o-ring through unless you jammed it through on purpose.

Good to know now lol. I learned the hard way to take a razor blade and slice the old one off. The new one is much more plyable and should flex enough to get on.

ya the new ones roll on pretty much. get one side started, hold it in place, and push the rest of the o ring over that disk thingy, done

Yep. The first 5 injectors went great but the last one must have been cracked before I started because as soon as I put the new o-ring on it and started rolling, it snapped in half.

The only thing that does is hold the ring on the injector so that when you pull the rail, they come up. Without that, you will typically need to pick the ring off the head. Not a problem at all.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

oh you also want to put some type of oil on the new rings to help them seal better, like wd-40 or motor oil. Don't need a lot just enough to cover the oil side of the rings

Used a dab of WD-40 and they went seated just fine and no leaks. The car started back up for the first time in months. Now back to chasing the overheating demon.

I keep a tube of vasoline in the toolbox goop drawer for o-rings. WD40 tends to eat rubber stuff.

Plus..you should see the looks I get when people are looking for tools and find it.
