    Hey everybody,
I just got an 05 grand prix gtp comp g thats been giving me some trouble, its got 88000 miles. My check engine light has been on and off recently telling me it was having random misfires and i thought i sorted out the issue but it came back on. when i started i replaced the spark plugs and spark plug wires. the light went off a while and came back on. I replaced the ignition coils and the light went right off, i put a new O2 sensor in the car but the company shipped me one that wasnt a direct fit so i modified the connector to make it fit. 3 days later my engine light is on again, th2 O2 sensor is the one behind the engine block closest to the engine wall to the cabin. i also replaced the rotors and brakes on the front of the car and put a large cone air filter in place of the stock box, im still working on completing the air filter system. the engine performs great, the supercharger whine is very present with the air filter and im pushing it more so my MPG has gone down but i have yet to check my engine code, sill do by this afternoon. i think maybe the O2 sensor is not working properly so i may put the old one back in to test it out. suggestion, general ideas? the code that came up was p0053. im going to assume its the O2 sensor i got now working with the system and swap the old one back in.

Yes, that code relates to Bank 1 Sensor 1 O2 sensor (the one in the rear manifiold near the firewall. Replace it with a correct one and see what you get.
