So I am driving home tonight and all of the sudden I begin smelling oil? It isn't very strong so I am not sure if it is the car in front of me or not? Don't smell it the whole time but enough that I plan on checking it when I get home. Well when I arrive home I look and there is a huge puddle under my car and the bottom of the passenger side is covered. Haven't done anything recently to the oil system. Wondering if anyone knows where the oil pressure sending unit is? I was of the stick and no oil light came on so it was too dark to pin point the leak now but that is my first logical guess. Help please, not coming off the filter by the way.

The sending unit is right above the filter. Look in the day light and find your leak. It could be the sending unit. One failed on my GA and pumped out 2 qts oil in 8 miles.

Thanks man, is it on the filter housing? It looks like the leak is coming from right above the filter somewhere. If so that is probably what it is. I'm glad that I didn't get on it and push it tonight!

Jack the car up, take off the front passenger side tire, make sure you have oil in it, have someone else start the car, if it is a bad sensor the oil will come squirting out through the plug of the sending unit. I had this happen this winter, I added 5 quarts on the side of the road and couldn't make it 3 miles before I lost it all again.

It's an easy change, just need a crescent wrench and of course a new sending unit.

sorry that I never finished this . The next day with a little light I turned the car on with a drip pan under it since it already trashed my whole street coming home and it was literally peeing right out of the sending unit. Thanks for all of the info everyone! Just for everyone's entertainment it was really windy when I got to change it and since I didn't want to drive it up the driveway into the garage I fixed it in the street. Yep you guessed it! I was covered in oil from the gusts blowing it all over me when changing the sensor. LOL! what can you do, you lose either way right!
