My car has been running rough and I think it could be an idle air control valve is bad. I have a 1994 grand prix GTP, so if it is bad what are some significant indications that it is bad?

If the IAC is bad it won't usually start since the throttle plate is closed completely and the IAC is shut there's no air getting into the engine. When this happens you can normally get the motor started by holding the gas pedal down a bit to open the throttle plate

its a possibility that your throttle body is loaded with cooked carbon and that it so happens to clog up the IAC and prevent it from moving, and/or the IAC decided that its time to retire (correct me if I'm wrong)...

I'm in agreement with cleaning the TB. It's a good starting point and will ensure the IAC can move freely if it's gunked up.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
