i dont believe it does anything...you dont have to do a case learn when you drop a new motor in your car that the computer hasnt seen before so why would you have to do one with a newly tuned pcm on the original motor? if that was the case wouldnt you need a relearn after every new sensor you put in?

A CASE relearn is an advanced way for the car to detect misfires, based on the relationship of the cam position sensor to crankshaft position sensor. Anytime you permanently intend to install a PCM that did not come directly out of your car, you need a CASE relearn

Do you need a tech II/tuner to do a case learn? I heard you dont, it involves the e-brake and turnin the car on off a few times is this true?

On HPT you go to the specials tab it's one of the menu bar buttons. Then case learn.

Overall if your car is running great, you'll feel like you gain very little from a learn. However like FFDP said, there is a gain...just not one that we are likely to notice until the motor pops.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Surprised that this has not been mentioned...

The CASE learn allows your PCM to detect KR... Without it you will never detect KR, and run the risk of breaking things very easily.
