Curious how difficult it is to replace these, the last car i did this to was a 79 cutlass, much more room and less extras to remove to get to it, it looks easy enough but looks can be deceiving.Replacing because i have a small oil leak, i can smell it buring and see it on the front exhaust manifold and have small drips on garage floor at the rear of the engine. Any help and or advice is appreciated. Thanks!

    What do you drive?
    3.1L
    3.4L
    3.8L NA
    3.8L Sc

IMO the 3.8's are easy. I'd rather burn the other two motors.

    No worries man..

The LIM gaskets are relatively easy, the valve covers are also pretty easy. When you do the swap, being NA, I would suggest putting a new UIM on as well. This is because they tend to crack over a lot of heat cycles in the EGR area. This allows cooalnt into the intake and it hydrolocks the motor.

When he does the UIM he can use the metal UIM in place of the plastic one. Basically so he won't have the issues again. Unless you are going to top swap it.

**EDIT** I should have told you it is more work than just buying a new plastic one but if it were me and you are going to keep the car for a while I would do it. But that is just me.

    Example:

you cant use the metal one unless you bore out the EGR inlet to fit the EGR stove pipe on the L36 LIM. just get a replacement plastic one from your local auto parts store and be done with it.

Yeah sorry. There is more work involved than just bolting it on. I don't believe you have to bore the hole out but either shorten the L36 stove pipe or use a L26 stove pipe. An adapter plate for the TB will needed. Also some work on the UIM to account for the PCV and IAT on the L26 UIM.

If you like doing the work and wanna do it here it is:
