I'd do it for a small fee if you bring it down to the southwest part of the state. I'll even sell you a nice 2500 zzp stall.

It goes in and out of lock while I'm driving, and it doesn't lock up right away in gear changes

To change a torque converter, the trans or engine needs to be pulled.

To fix the issue that you are having, might be a soleniod or sloppy valve in the valve body. Someone please link him to Dave's common issues page.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

    How southwest is it?
I'm in the very southwest of the state, as southwest into are state as you can get. About 5 mins off Lake Michgain and 10 Min's from IN. Basicly a whole 20 mins away from South Bend, IN which is home of Notre Dame.

Find some one local to you with some know how and a tech 2 and let them at least take a peak at the car and give you some sort of an idea as to what's going on befor you swap a torque conerter out or replace the whole trans. It's a lot better to be replacing part's knowing that's the issue then just throwing part's at somthing hoping it's going to fix the problem your dealing with. If it come's down to a torque converter or trans issue then let me know and I'd still be more then willing to do the job for a fee.
