This message just appeared this morning.

The only time I've ever had a problem was when my car was dead one morning for no apparent reason. I noticed my radar detector had been left on but that's it. I got a boost from the local AMA and figured everything would be okay.

Is it the battery? alternator? Should I just leave it for now?

The volts when I was driving were around 13-14 constantly moving around when I was driving. I turned off the car then started it back up and it was still around 13. At break here I'm going to go outside and start my car to see if everything is still in good working condition.

I haven't changed the battery and I'm pretty sure it's still the stock one inside of the car. I have a 2007 Grand Prix GT SE with HID's, Ipod connector etc. No system no nothing... Also, no relay harness for the HIDs.

always start with the cheapest thing. If it were the alternator your battery would die while driving.

What would be the cheapest thing inside of this situation?

Good to know... I started up the car again just to check it to see what the charge was like. It was registering 13+ Volts and went up to 14 after it was started for about 30 seconds.

I'd say battery. Check the sides, make sure they're nice and flat (no bubbling out, even slightly). It's not hard to get your car to the local parts place and have them test your battery. Although even then they may be wrong. Advance told me my battery was good, I took it over to walmart (where the battery is from) they told me it was bad and handed me a new battery, no questions asked.

Okay well the company who could do the battery testing anytime is going to charge me 30 bucks even if anything is wrong with it but if there is and I buy a new battery then they won't charge me...

Should I just wait on it and see what happens with the voltages and if they start declining rapidly?

Anything I should look out for?

my car is a 2002 with the factory battery....

And I made it through last winter with no block heater use.

Local parts stores aka crappy tire will test for free if you can get the battery in their doors.

    Clean your terminals first.
