I have a 1999 GTP Coupe, So I go to put my window down to let some fresh air in while parked. Let the window down half way, when i went to raise it it did fine but a small amount of mysterious smoke came from the area of the window buttons. made me nervous so I released the button waited a minute and tried again. The window went right back in place like nothing happened.

Fast-Forward 2 hours. I get out of restaurant, roll window down half way again to drive in town. When I go to put the window back up it doesn't budge. The window would go down even more but not back up. After fiddling with it: pushing down on window as pushing the "up" function, wiggling window with and without pressing button. 2 people pulling up on glass while pressing button the Glass would not budge. and is now stuck 2/3 down. No matter how hard I try the glass won't move

Any ideas or suggestions? I have no idea where to start. (probably where the smoke came from...)

Note: just got the car has 108K on it and has been sitting up for little under 1.5 year. and just had a major service.

I just had the same thing happen in mine. You can run jumper wires to move the window up(im still doing this lmao), But the switch is bad. There about 100 bucks aswell. If you need to get the window up in a hurry I could take pics of how to jump it so it rolls up

    When I had a 99gtp, same trouble.

Pop the plastic button off, and you can get a small screwdriver in there.

I used a spare ignition key to roll the window up and down, until I could get another switch.
