Just purchased my 4th Grand Prix. This is a '99 GT. And Surprise...intake and valve cover gaskets need to be replaced. Not to worry, all gaskets replaced (including those ridiculous plastic elbows. Car runs just fine...except P0123, P0118 and P1635. I would appreciate any feedback from the forum on why I would just now be receiving these trouble codes. Also, the gasket kit I got came with a thermostat gasket, but when I removed the old thermostat there was only the rubber ring inside. I replaced the ring and installed the gasket. Again. car runs fine every other start. The IAC has to be reset at ignition to get normal idle.

    Thanks for the help

You don't need the extra thermostat gasket. The rubber ring is the seal. For those three codes to come up at the same time, I would double check all the connections to coolant temp sensor and throttle position sensors. If those look good, start looking for places that a wire may have been damaged. If you have a meter, pull those two plugs and make sure you have 5 volts going to them when the ignition is on.

Thank You for responding. Luckily my neighbor has a Regal LS. I was able to look under his hood and found that I had flipped the temp sensor and the throttle position sensor. After that correction and a code clear, no more issues. Well...except the car still smells hot now.
