Just joined the site I need some help with a 1999 prix. 3.8L V6 engine no supercharger. Had the car diagnosed and the mass air flow sensor is bad and needs to be replaced. Dealership wants $600 for the job and I have seen a couple write-ups online about it being an easy change. I figured I would join this forum and see if anyone has done this before and if so how difficult is this job? I'm sure this is my first of many posts to come since the car is and has been falling apart for the past 4-5 years. Sad but true, they are nice looking rides but just don't seem to hold up very well.

Thanks in advance for the help

is a very easy job. all you do is remove two bolts that hold it down, remove sensor, install new one and finally put the two bolts back on. most of the time its a small torx bit with the security nipple in the center.

Easy job, may need special security bits if you have the torx with teh post in the middle. A whole set at harbor freight is like 3-4 bucks though. Its right on top of the throttle body, has 2 screws and a 3 wire plug. And I have a MAF out of a 02 GT if you need the part as well... Just let me know.

or if you are cheap, like me, u can use a grinder to cut a slot across the torx and use a flat head screwdriver. just use a thin cutting disk.

I just pulled mine off my care for my top swap. Since I am running a LQ4 I won't need it. If you would like to buy mine PM me. I don't know where you are going to find one for $30 lol ZZP sells them for like $160 or something.

Don't revive dead threads to ask brand new questions.

To the OP if you're still around.... Post in the correct section.

Thanks guys, indeed my intent is not to revive old threads, but for some new members walking on unfamiliar territory, its hard to navigate the site, and when time is of the issue, you hope someone can give you a quick answer.

I noticed on my MAF sensor its written AFH50M-05(if I read it right) and from what I can tell its a A1 Cardone type. If this is the case then the previous owner must have replaced it before, cause I would imagine stock from the factory it would be a GM/AC Delco? Anyways, thanks again guys, I can now go to my mechanic and get one off a 99 non-supercharged engine from his yard for 40 bucks, cheers!
