a little while after putting my headers on i notice my car starting to run a little rough, when i get on it it wont let me accelerate it will start to bog down, also when i first start it up in the morning it will idle very high sometimes up to 2k then will settle back to about 1k, i know i need to put a new rear header gasket on but i dont think that is the only problem maybe a vac leak? any help would be great

he asked if the MAF was unplugged. I'm guessing that it is not and you have a vac leak or the maf is bad or dirty or something else is wrong.

Does it go away when the car is warm?

    Do you have any misfires?

So i cleaned the maf and it did nothing then replaced it yesterday and it runs A LOT better now, but it still kinda runs weird i think my uncle said its called surging? is that right? like every second or second and a half it feels like the rpms go up and down maybe 100 rpms its hard to tell unless your feeling for it, could it be a missfire or bad plugs or wires?

    maybe a vac leak,

one more question did you take out the air shield in the intake that in right on the end of the TB, because i took that out on my 97 gtp and it would cause the rpms to jump a little at idle, it would go from 700-800.

Exhaust leak 12 inches or less from the 02 sensor will cause Surging and bogging esp when you first hit the gas after a decal or stop. Bet you toss a p1133 code

i bet thats it, i had the p1133 code right after the install then put some felpro gaskets in and and put a new maf on and the code went away but it came back and i cleared it and a few days later it came on again, so im gonna get the cross overs welded for sure and proble everything else back, is that a bad idea or does anyone else have all the slipp joints welded?
