Ok so i was driving today about 10 miles to go get food all of a sudden i start hearing this ticking noise almost like i was dragging something metal but i wasnt it was up until 1/4 throttle than past that it got faster ticking than went away. i was also at about 250 degrees i pull over and im smoking hot engine bay and smoke everywhere. sit for about 30 min starts up runs fine.

its running about 210 - 230 always going up and down. i get to my place and park let it cool down while i eat for about 45 min. drive everything is good not overheating nothing. than all of a sudden the ticking came back im thinking its the tranny. 1st gear ticks until 1/2 throttle same with 2nd and 3rd. in Neutral its normal. than im not overheating but my car starts smoking BAD cars are driving past me fast. i notice im smoking out of my rear view. i go to hit the gas i see i have boost but im moving like a slug i lost power. all of a sudden the battery light on my dash comes on, and the oil light. BAM car shuts down at the time it was running about 180ish 190sh degrees. i go i coast and park it and get towed. i have no clue what could cause this.

tmro if i start it up ill take a vid. just looking for any advice

if he toasted a bearing then why would the thing be smoking?? I thought that the bearing was a internal problem and you just get alot of knocking sound coming from the motor.

Could also be a piston that chipped and led to the demise of th engine. No oil pressure caused the oil light. When you hear dragging metal coming from the engine it is done for. Smoke was it blue, white? your engine got hot and took a dump.

i started up the car today and it was normal i didn't drive it around yet but im going to take it step by step. it overheated so i am swapping the t stat and putting rad fluid in there today. i think the t stat broke and didn't open. when i looked at my rad half of the water was gone (im using water bc im flushing out that dexcool **** every other day)

okay i was VERY low on coolant so i toped that off today the t stat is good but i replaced it anyway. there was no metal or any clicking sounds when i drove it today through the gears, and i had my power back.

its all done from overheating why i overheated im not sure here are a few things i did that same day.

installed boost gauge and blocked off the old line <--- does the stock line for the digital boost gauge do anything besides read boost?

and i took out the DRL <--- very unlikely but could this cause a side effect.

PS i love my car bc it didn't blow a head gasket

Maybe it was a head gasket? Keep and eye on your coolant levels and see what happens. Could be a small leak and it was burning coolant.

If you're getting white smoke then you're burning coolant. This is either a head gasket or bad lim gasket problem. Pull your spark plugs and find out if any if them look steam cleaned. That'll at least tell you where the coolant is being burned.

wow, that's a crazy amount of symptoms for a water pump. glad you were able to fix it that easily! Hopefully there wasn't any damage from the overheating!
