    No luck unplugged solenoid.i figured it wouldn't change because i unhooked my battery so no power to the noid.if anyone has any other ides let me know.and thanks.

    Still stuck.any ideas before i go to gas station and fill the gas can and have a pontiac bonfire.

    I went to the junk yard to get some parts for my bonneville and got two lock cylinders with keys in them for my grand prix.1 came with the remote but the key i believe is coded because it has the pk3 on the key.the other lock cylinder did not come with the fob just the key and doent have anything marked on it.im guessing its not coded.if i ever get my old cylinder out could i use the non coded key and cylinder and put it in or will it need to be programmed or something by the dealer?my car or the one from the junk yard didnt have that delphi box by the ignition.

    if you cant get your key to turn you may as well go back and grab the whole column you got the new lock from. its not hard to take out, 4 bolts, a few plugs and the steering shaft. all the work is under the dash. i could tear one out in like 20 minutes or less i bet.

    I could do that if i could remember wich gp it came out off lol.i guess ill try and find another with keys in it if i cant get this to turn over soon.i guess i should find one that doesnt have the delphi box on the lock?Any reprogramming or anything like that?

    I might try drilling it out with a small bit,then a bigger one being careful not to damage the housing till i get to a point where maybe a flathead could pop or bend it out.was also thinking about a dent puller but figured it would damage the housing.

    Went to dealership and had a key by vin made and works good now.thanks for eveyones help.

    Now that you have a good key for your car, you can make additional keys easily. The PK3 keys are easy to program yourself at least for 97-03 cars. I've bought several online for both my GPs(about $12/key), had them cut by a locksmith(about $5) then programmed them myself. It worked out to be less than $20 per key. I keep a non PK3 key as a pattern for the cut.

    All you do is use a good key, turn it to on then back to off. Put in the new key and turn it on then off and it should be programmed.
    2001 black GTP coupe, Gen V, ZZP S2IC & billet fuel rails, XP cam, LS7 lifters, 105# springs, ZZP MPS w/3.4 pulley, Northstar tb, LQ4 maf, ZZP headers, K & N CAI, Meziere electric wp, Caspers fp retire, F body front brakes, GMPP strut braces​, Don Rome strut brace mounts.

    dont have a coded key or factory alarm.
