Hey folks. I'm getting ready to buy an l32 engine and tranny to swap into my 97 GTP. The l32 will come with alll the accessories. Is there anyone who has done this or can tell me what I might run into? I'm thinking the swap should go pretty smooth.

what are you doing with the transmission? can you even control that transmission?

are you doing a FULL L32 swap with PCM and all? if so, why?

I'm installing the engine and the tranny in the 97. The Motor comes with all the accessories (including the pcm). I will just transferr my mods over to the l32 and have about 20 more horses from the gen 5. You aked why? The question is why not!? I have over 175,000 miles on my 97. The l32 has 1/3rd the miles, better internals and a generation 5 blower, plus the tranny has 3.29's. I already have a 3000 stall to slap on it.

ick, your gonna have problems interfacing the L32 PCM with your 97.

first off, the PCM is 100000% different

second the L32 PCM cant communicate to your car

third, your PCM cant controll that transmission

I can go on if you desire.....

your best option is the use your 97 PCM install the L32 and rebuild the Current Trans

I would use the L32 + 4t65E HD (L32 trans) in your car if you have a tuner. You will need a 2003 PCM with service number 12209624. Also will need a 98-03 harness since yours is a 97. You will need to flash a 03 gtp file on that pcm if it doesn't come from a 03 gtp. You also need to change to 3.29 gear in the pcm file. This *should* work.

The 97's are a crap year as far as wiring harness, pcm and vac. If you can get the L32 engine/trans and everything at a reasonable price, I don't see why not.
