i used a blow dried, ripped em off then a plastic mixing blade to get them off, then mineral spirits to take the rest of the glue off. i didnt have any color difference from where they were and i have a 2000, and i just did mine in like nov 2009.

When I took the badge off my trunk, I used some fishing line to actually get the badge off, then used a heat gun to soften the adhesive, and managed to get it all off in about 5 minutes. After a good wash you couldnt tell it was ever there. I took it off last Fall, so it was on the car for 7+ years.

I used a bit of heat to pull the badge off, then WD-40 to get the glue off. WD-40 takes that glue stuff off anything..
