I recently lost any air blowing in my car, no heat, no air, no DEFROST! Ugh that has been a hard one.

My dad helped me get the blower motor out, he bought a new one, attached it and we still get nothing. All the fuses have been checked and they are all good. He hasn't looked at the resistor yet because its harder to get to. If we replaced the motor and it still doesnt work does that mean its the resistor that is the problem? This is something that needs to get fixed asap! Driving with no defrost in the weather we have been having is not good! Any suggesstions on what to do next?

generally the resistor go's out 1 or 2 speeds at a time. if you have the original factory resistor in i would go ahead and replace it anyways. there about $25.00 0r $30.00 and it's an upgraded resistor as well and it might fix your problem as well. also have you got the passenger side water leak fixed as well? all three of these items go hand in hand. water leaks on your passenger side footwell but it travels throught the blower compartment first sometimes taking the motor and resistor with it. well, i need to go as my "break" is over....

also, do you have the automatic climate controls? if you do that could complicate matters as well as they're a more complex system...

this is also symptomatic of a failing ignition relay as well, but i have a cheap and easy fix if it is...

resistor, trust me. i had the same problem. its not 1 or two speeds a t a time. its 1-4 and then 5, i would get 5 sometimes, but more then often not. it was just not quite 100% bad. get the blower motor resistor from rockauto.com, cheapest u will find. that IS the problem.

well the resistor is right next to the motor so it's just as easy to get to.

if none of your speeds (1-5) are working then it's likely the resistor. if you have 5 only and 1-4 don't work, it's the ignition switch.

i have a brand new duralast resistor if you're interested

Yea its quite a squeeze doing this work! I have had no leaking problems, one day all speeds worked and the next absolutely nothing. The resistor is getting replaced next. IF that doesnt fix it, whats this ignition relay you speak of and where is it?

don't jump on the ignition mod right away as it's the last thing in your arsenal of troubleshooting/repair. double check that all your connections are tight and corrosion free. you can hook up your old motor to your battery and see if it works on that then go from there...

dude, it was horrible. i pushed the seat all the way back, put the seat back down as far as possible, and layed upside down with my head under the glove box lol. i thought i was gonna break in half when i got out.

that was even worse then after i spent 2 days tearing apart the engine, all bent over and ****.

yeah, but you saved a hundred bucks or more in stealership money. my brother had his BM and resistor changed at goodyear. $400.00....

on speed 5 the resistor is bypassed to fuse. check fuse for blower. test blower on speed 5. if it works on 5 but not 1-4. its the resistor. if not then ignition relay issue.

more than likely you have the original resistor in there from the factory. these are prone to failure because of the materials used. there a ceramic plate with the electrical pathways etched on. if you buy a new one they are now an upgraded part so either way it's a good idea to put one in and they're only about $30.00....
