I have a 98 Grand Prix GT (L36) and the air wasn't cold at the beginning of summer. So i tried a can of super sealant and R-134a(2 cans)...The air was super cold for like 2 weeks. But now the passenger side is blowing pretty cold and the driver side is just luke-warm. My girl friends Grand Prix did the same, but she has climate control, so i figured it was an issue with that. But now mines doing it and I don't know why it's inconsistent; and not staying as cold. How do you know if it's a leak in the compressor or lines, or something else?

To be honest, your best bet is to take it to a shop and have them look at it for you. You need gauges and other stuff to properly diagnose what is happening.

Thanks...Any way to tell where there is a leak; if it's in the compressor or the line? Because today it wasn't cold at all

You can get a leak dye for the 134a. But if you take it to a real shop they should have an electronic leak detector that they can sniff around with, and gauges to see what it is doing.

The only stuff that i would trust would be nu-calgon stuff, but its more for residential than automotive.

Buy a set of R134 hot/cold side gauges, and study up on A/C systems for the DIY fix.

It can be but you need a vaccum pump and the disconect fittings for the automotive type fittings and all that other garbage. Refrigerant is about $35.00/lb so you won't be saving much in the long run.

It plugged my orifice tube. That was fun to change....my arms are tore up.

ALWAYS take AC work to a shop! A vac and fill was 60 bucks after I changed my 4 dollar orifice tube.
