Ok, I'm pretty sure I have a vacuum leak but I can't find it for the life of me. Car idles @ 1000-1300RPM. I've had the car fogged but no leaks were found. I'm pretty sure there is one somewhere & I'm starting to lean towards the LIM as being the culprit. Had an appt today to get this looked at but, I have to wait another week because the local shop couldn't fit my car in today. So, is there any way I can check myself to see if the LIM is where the vacuum leak is? Any way besides taking the LIM off & going ahead with replacing the gaskets? Or could something else c ause the car to idle high like this? Any help is appreciated.

when you did the lim change, did you scrape all the gasket off the top of the lim where the sc sits? This is where I had an issue before.

Back in September of '09. I changed the LIM out when I put in the new motor. I scraped all the old gasket off & wiped the surface clean. I didn't use any gasket sealer as is wasn't needed.

*sigh* You know the little Orange sides of the LIM gasket. your supposed to RTV those Corners they are prone to leaks. also try replacing your vac lines before you decide to rip into the engine i just replaced the Lines going from the MAP>Under S/C Snout> Fuel Pressure>BBV Solenoid and im about to start the car to see if it fixed my Boost issue

I may have used RTV in those areas, can't remember also, all of my vacuum lines are new.

The corners where the gasket that sits across the top of the block, and meets the gaskets on either heads, ya, right there in that corner where they meet gets a dab of RTV.

You can test for leaks yourself.

You can do the hose to the ear method where you take a small hose, like a vacuum cleaner hose, and hold one end up to your ear, and then take the other end and kinda point and shoot it around areas in your engine bay. You will hear the leak clearly.

Other method is to use something kinda flammable, like brake or starter fluid in a spray can, and you shoot it in areas where it might be leaking, and if your RPM increases, then there is your leak.
