So I decided to change my fluid/filter on my GT with 123K miles on it. Was supposed to have the fluid/filter changed at 55K (by Firestone), but I don't think that they ever did it. The fluid that came out was reddish, but nothing like the Dex VI I replaced it with. Was going to put the shift kit in also, but decided to see what the pan looks like after another 25K.

Something just doesn't look right.... yet another reason to do car work yourself.
vvvvvv This is what the pan looked like!!! vvvvv don't think this is right!!!!

p.s. If I'd known it was this easy... woulda done it myself the 1st time. Besides the filter o-ring, it was a piece of cake.

Dont look terrible. Thats what mine looked like on my 97 gtp when I changed it at 140k. But that fluid was in there for like 60k tho.

This is the only other pan drop I did besides a Dodge....which had major tranny issues to begin with. Just thought this looked way worse then the one pictured in links that I've found. But this is good to know..... Thanks

Also noticed that it looks like something is rubbing the pan. Which I'm thinking is the filter wasn't seated all the way... nothing a rubber mallet didn't fix.

is that on the inside or outside?

As for the dust and stuff, every single tranny is going to wear some, so dust is normal, but its when you start seeing bigger metal shaving and chunks that when you have a problem.

Thats cool, thanks. Didn't see any fillings/chunks or anything in the pan, but the magnet had stuff just like my magnetic oil plug does. Kinda like little slivers... and I mean little. Had to look at them in direct sunlight to see them.

The mark is on the inside.

So you guys are saying that they probably did the service? Have done alot of towing around a 700 lb. waverunner and moved twice since then.

Yeah the fluid is very nice and pinkish. If it came out and was dark that would be bad. I did mine and it was a nasty color. It looks pretty good from what I can see. I'd say get a shift kit from intense or something (don't buy ZZP shift kit, you can make it for less than $5).
