i installed a boost gauge and its reading 5 lbs. i have a 3.4 pulley with supporting mods this can't be happening! i searched the forum for bypass valve and one post said you could have a bad valve , how do i check it? maybe it's altitude, i live in northern utah but i don't think high elevation would have that much of an effect on boost what do you think?

Just unplug the vac line, plug it off and go for a drive see if you have more boost. I have the 3.4 set up too and I have 13 on the norm and 16 on a shift. Also where did you tap into at?

when you disconnect the line dont just let it hang there, plug it. that makes a huge vacuum leak if its just open.

no, itll still move because of the vacuum. the solenoid is only there so the PCM can dump boost if it needs to under certain conditions. the BBV works fine on its own without the PCM.
