I'm looking for the BEST repair manual available. I'll order it online, but I'm talking "Car repair for Dummies."

I need LOTS of pictures and step-by-step instructions.

I need a break-down, especially if it says something like:
"Disconnect the fuel injector feed and return pipes from the fuel rail."
^ NO idea what half of this is. If I had a picture, I think I could figure it out.

I looked at Haynes and ALLData. Which is my best option?

    Thank you!

    1997 Grand Prix SE, 3.8L V6 SFI, 140k, purchased on 3/6/10.

^What they said. I've bought them all, haynes is too general because it combines Wbody cars over a few generations and isn't detailed enough, but like they say it's a good first step to understand what you're getting into.

Alldata is great but I didn't care for a subscription.

I found a used gm service manual set from ebay, I got lucky and found one for $20. They are thick as a textbook and extremely detailed. gpona is great for the free gm manual reference and I hope the server issues have been solved.

^^I realize a stock L36 is not as fast as the sticker implies, but this sticker has worked and it is still a hell of a lot of fun to drive considering it's a grocery sedan.

I picked up SI meant as a standalone from Serbia or Latvia etc. Uses Dameontools to act like a server and while it's a little slow to load (bigggg) it's covering 98-2010 and will give you specific vehicle only stuff if you tap in the Vin.

Used them all. Factory stuff is the best, hands down. To illustrate, if you are looking for a wire, it'll tell you the color, thickness, where it's located down to the millimeter from other visual references. That includes where splices are etc etc.

Alldata is a close second as is Mitchell On Demand.

The book written by the people that designed the vehicle is IMO the best though.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
