OK. I've read everyone elses' posts on the "key stuck in ignition" issue, and all I've seen sofar is a quick fix with a zip tie. Has anyone figured out how to fix this issue?
On my GP, not only does the key get stuck sometimes (Not able to turn it to OFF or ACC), but I am also able to remove it when driving by pulling it straight out of the tumbler. If I leave it that way for 3 or more seconds, the security light comes on, so I know the PK3 system is working.
It is a 2000 GP SE if that matters.
I am assuming whoever owned the car before me knew of the zip tie option, though I haven't checked to see if it is in place, since I am able to remove the key at any time.
If I put the car in PARK, turn it one click back from ON, (to stop the engine) and turn it back to ON without starting it, and move the shifter from park to 1st gear, then slam it back to PARK, the key will sometimes come out.
It is a pain!
Should I suspect the Shifter Cable? I'm guessing it is not the solenoid for the key cylinder, since I can pull the key out while in ON. What else could it possibly be?
Thanks,
