Okay, so I am putting on the modified rockers from zzp on my gtp. I replaced the valve springs with L76/L92 springs and used the retainers from the L76/L92 engine as well. The rockers are not coming in contact with the rocker plate, all the pressure is on the pushrods and valve stems, prior to torquing them. Basically I don't know if that's how its suppose to be I thought when I unbolted the stock rockers they just sat down on the plate. I haven't torqued them down yet cause it seems like if I did it would keep the valves open. The springs are installed at 4.5cm(about 1.77") is that right? I don't know anything about the lifters on these cars, but are they designed to compress. If they are how could the rockers be torqued accurately? I feel like I need shims under the plates for it to be right. I don't know, this is my only form of transportation so I need to figure this out quick.

The lifters are hydraulic. They will compress

You need to rotate each cylinder you are torquing to TDC to get an accurate torque.

I haven't torqued anything yet cause I don't know if the rockers should be contacting the pedistal before they are torqued. I thought I read somewhere that you didn't need to have the cylinder on TDC to torque it on this engine?

Does torquing the rockers set the preload on the lifters or something?

Any ideas on what could cause it because everything looks right. Could it be the springs I used?

Yeah, but those just have a larger groove for the pushrod.

I guess I'm just having a misunderstanding of how hydraulic lifters work. One rocker will be making slight contact with the pedistal while another one won't be close. So the pushrods are at different points. So what I'm getting is you can just torque them all down as it is and it will compress the lifter and torque the rocker, or you can put each cylinder on TDC and the rocker will make full contact with the pedistal so the torquing process will be more accurate. Is this right or am I way off?
BTW I'm using reusable bolts not TTY.

Finally got it all back together and it definintely gave it more power and my KR is down to .6*, but that's with a stock pulley. One of the lifters is tapping and I think it might have been tapping before but not as loud. Im pretty sure I got them all torqed down so does that mean bad lifter?

Yeah I did because I read a few things saying you didn't need it on tdc plus its not in zzp instructions. It will just compress the valve spring before the rocker is torqued all the way if you don't put it on tdc, I don't think that's a problem.

Air compressor on rockers? What do you have the arms of a 5 year old? LOL

The TQ. Spec is like 25ft. lbs. on reusable bolts and 11 on TTY's...I've done a few rocker installs and never turned the motor to TDC, only thing I do is unplug the ICM (bottom of the coil pack bracket) while the valve covers are off AFTER the rockers are installed and have someone crank the engine over and over to check to see if they all move properly and everything is aligned.
