    "band clamps" ,

    ... ,
And so they do have a U-Bend? it doesnt say it as a "con" for SD headers so i was confused.
Sorry still a newb at this header stuff. lol.
I have no idea what to buy, cause they all have problems.

Also.. do i need to buy a dp with cat?
or can i just buy a new highflow cat that can be welded onto the pipe?..

From what I have understand (don't have these on yet but near future):

    1. Band clamps are better than the U clamps that come with SD headers.
    2. The gaskets that come with the headers are not great quality, so consider better ones.
    3. Buy sealant regardless.
    4. The SD header flex is bad, but you could use it until it fails. When replacing use a 3" interlock & braided flex only.
    5. The SD headers have a U Bend, which is 3" and flows fine, but it will drag on the ground like a dachshunds nuts if you are not careful or if the car is lowered.
    6. The headers package comes with sufficient tubing to replace the factory catalytic conv. This also elminates the factory U bend (not the headers U-bend). If you want to run a cat, consider buying a magnaflow 3" cat for $60. Headers can also mate to the stock cat, but the factory U bend is after the cat and should then be eliminated if not already done so.

Additional: Removing the factory catalytic modifications should be coupled to a reprogrammed PCM with provision for this (according to what I have read).

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you.
but in the end, after buying a new flex, a cat, better band clamps, gaskets etc.
wouldnt it be better just to buy a more expensive header with less problems and better fitment?

Well if you can get your SD's fixed for $400 thats still better than 600+ for used ZZP's.

    $200 for re-done DP?

    youz mad.

I'd say $50 bucks tops....since all they are doing is cutting out the gooseneck and welding in a piece of straight pipe. Plus...if you have great motor mounts...you don't even need a flex.

    E-test cat is 90+ shipping.

ZZP flex costs some money as well...

Then theres the RTV and better clamps.

    it adds up yo.

Well ive been looking around for headers for awhile here and I have seen them on a lot of gtps but I have a gt and was wondering if they will still fit if the header says it made for a gtp. Thanks

`I plan on getting some sd headers here shortly and keeping everything stock after that. With the right supporting mods would I be able to drop a pulley size if I wanted to or no?

yea solids, and poly uppers or something like that, minimal engine movement is what you want, but a smidge is ok.

Do the SD headers have 1.75" primaries?

What do you mean by get it out? If you lower the subframe a little..I think you could still put it in or out with the pipe being solid. the flex doesn't help get it in.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Why does the original post say the sd headers are a direct copy of the ssac headers if the sd headers have 1.5" primaries and ssac have 1.75?
