Thread: remote key fob distance

i have seen MANY 3800's have great reaching distance with their key fob when it comes to locking and unlocking and arming etc..

mine... not so much. new batteries etc dont help ANY. i have to usually be within 5-10 ft. of the car to operate it. occasionally i can use my mouth to amplify the distance of the key fob but not much... anyone know how to fix this? and dont tell me to replace the key fob battery. its new. thanks.

ya your mouth!? my fob too does suck in the range category tho

you hold the fob under your chin. It turns your body into a antenna. I was able to get between 200-300' of range. At friends old apartment which was on other side of another apartment from parking 2nd story i could hit panic and such and hear the horn.

If your worried there was a mod you can make a larger antenna and run it behind the dash.

I dont worry about this any more, I can get up to a mile range with mine now with 2way paging so.

i swear if you open your mouth into a circle (sounds ghey and retarted i know lol) and place the key fob under your chin and aim your mouth towards the car that you WILL get better reception with it.

anyone have a link to the mod?
