They updated PCM's in late 97 I believe. Yours has 4 connectors while the 98-03 have just two.

Another thing is the transmission. Yours is vacuum controlled while 98+ are not.

Throttle body is different as well in 97 and 98. They have a sealed MAF sensor while the 99+ is opened.

Trying to think of other things. I know the DIC is different, like 98+ has trac control and yours doesn't (if I recall)

the 97 GTP has the 4t65e, so its not vacuum controlled. only 97 SE and GT came with the vacuum one.

Yep and IIRC (trannyman would have to comfirm this) later year SE/GTs in 97 got the 4T65 instead of the 4T60 (vac controlled) tranny.

GTP has always has the 4T65-HD in the 97-03 GPs...

Also the supercharger has a different vacuum routing, evap system is different, the airbox, abs pump, pcm, washer & coolant bottle locations, HVAC color is green, DIC doesn't have tc as previously stated, a lot of 97 only had a manual lumbar (I got lucky and have power :P ), most 97 have a full antenna instead of the window antenna, the vacuum controlled trans as previously stated, tb...that's all I can think of atm...

97 was still vacuum controlled with the 4T65-HD. 98+ had the 4T65-EHD (electric).

    Wait, what?

So you are telling me that my 97 GTP has a vacuum controlled tranny!?!?

And here I have been trying to tune it with my PT all this time!

    ALL 97-03 GTP's have an electronically-controlled 4T65E-HD!

To answer the OP: Just about everything is interchangeable. Some parts may require a little bit of modification.

The washer fluid reservoir is in a different location on '97 and '98 than the '99+ making some aftermarket intakes un-usable. This can be fixed by getting and installing a newer reservoir and removing the old one.

The air box in '97 and '98 is also VERY inefficient compared to the newer ones. (This goes back to the coolant reservoir issue, too)

The PCM is physically larger than the '98 and newer ones, but does have the same plug type.

You do not have traction control of any kind (you can consider that a blessing if you are like me and prefer not to have it anyway).

The throttle body for '97 and '98 is a little different and uses a different style MAF. The '99+ ones flow a little better in stock form. (However, a ported '97-'98 TB can outflow even a modified '99+ TB.)
