I have a base 2005 Grand prix, and I was driving my car on the freeway and realized my car has a top speed governor and I would like to take it off. I was wondering if anyone knew how to do this and to instruct me how to do so. Thanks

You'll need a tune or a tuner.
Just confirming, he is 100%. Your PCM needs to be modified. The good news is a tuned PCM is a great upgrade; the bad news is it won’t be cheap.
Also for general information, I believe the 04+ N/A GPs speed limiters are set to 108 mph, if my memory serves. I would assume this is because of the stock “S” rated tires.
I upped mine to 200, doubt it could actually ever do 200 though
hey thanks. yeah the governor tops out at 107/108 and its frustrating because i know it can do much better than that
i also have a 05 gp gt and would like to remove to governor. How much does a good tuner run and were could i get one?
Now is a tune the same thing as a PCM?
I could have sworn I had my 04 gp gt at 115. I will have to try again and see what it shuts off at.
If you want speed buy a suzuki hayabusa .. I went 185mph... i hit the limiter.. felt like i was trying to tear off the throttle...
It doesnt matter how fast a car goes. it matter how fast it does a 1/4 in
i would like to add as someone mentioned tires earlier in this thread PLEASE do not be stupid and kill your govenor in a car with s rated tires. last thing i want is a tire tread seperating in a heavy car at 130mph +
^good thinkin lol
If one were interested in spending over $400, where would I look to buy a tuner?
internet
look at ZZP for HP tuners
