ok my 08 has daytime running lamps (headlights), i'm assuming they're controlled by the BCM since there is not separate relay for them, i bought a relay harness kit thinking that would be ok... wrong, when the DRLs are on the relay starts buzzing, as soon as i switch the headlights on from the switch it stops

here's a video of what it does
YouTube - 08 grand prix hid problem

i tried tapping directly into the fuse box, but it does the same thing.. so i guess my question is, has anyone gotten HIDs to work successfully with daytime running lights? if so, how did u do it?

I have read of guys using the corner bulb wire as the trigger for the harness to bypass the HIDs from seeing the DRL's. I'm not sure if you will get any type of warning light saying your DRL's are out.

i thought about that, but the keyless entry is tied to the parking lamps meaning the headlights would flash every time i lock or unlock my car.. probably not good for the ballasts

have you called or emailed the company you bought them from to see if maybe the ballest are bad? or the place you got the relay harness from? on the lock and unlock deal i havent figured out a way to disable that beside the locking part. when you unlock it it still turns them on. that the onlything holding me back from getting HID's.

just disable the DRLs completely. they make the car look ugly during the day anyway.

well i found some info and apparently the DRLs only run at 85% which is probably what is causing the relay to buzz.. i'm gonna see if i can get a wiring diagram and find out what wires control the DRLs from the BCM, and using a relay and some luck hopefully i'll be able to kill the DRLs completely while still having the function of the auto headlights.. just gotta find that diagram first

on the 04+ models you can't disable them.. well u can turn the switch to turn them off, but that becomes a hassle.. there's no separate fuses or relays for the DRLs

here's the pinout of the BCM connectors and the wires that will be spliced/cut to eliminate the DRLs. i'll be testing this tomorrow and i'll draw up a schematic.. hopefully the BCM is easy to get to

well.. i ran into a problem lol.. when the ignition is on the 12v reference wire from the BCM drops to 5 volts for some reason which is not enough to trigger the relay... soooooooo i tapped into a constant 12v source (radio harness) and it works.. but now the automatic headlights don't come on, just the parking lamps.. no big deal really, i can turn them on manually.. but the DRLs have successfully been killed!

mine is set so that they do not come on.. if you go through the programing mode in the DIC you can turn that option off

    ok here it is...

I ASSUME NO RESPONSIBILITY IF YOU MESS THINGS UP.

DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK
    This will void your warranty!!

    PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!!

first thing you need to do is remove the panel on the side of the dash, the BCM is located here

once you have that panel off, remove the small kick panel underneath the dash, it's held in by 3 push pins, twist the foot well light to remove it. once you have that off, remove the radio bezel

remove the 3 screws that hold the dash panel in and pull the panel straight out.. now you will see 3 screws that hold the BCM in, remove them

unclip the harness from the left side of the BCM, it may be zip tied, if so cut the tie.. THIS HARNESS IS NOT USED.. once that harness is out you can pull the BCM out from underneath.. unclip both harnesses from the bottom.

carefully cut away at the electrical tape and expose the wiring on both bottom harnesses..

locate pin #7 (WHITE WIRE) on the smaller harness. see diagrams below
Use a wiretap to tap into this wire and connect it to pin 85 on your relay

Now locate pin #9 on the bigger harness (PINK/WHITE WIRE) see diagram below

CUT this wire and crimp on female connectors to both ends.
ignore the wiretap on the white wire DO NOT use the white wire.

Connect the wire from the BCM harness side to pin 87 on the relay.
Connect the wire coming from the firewall to pin 30 on the relay.
Now you need to find a constant 12 volt source, i used the radio harness, but any constant 12 volt source will work.. Run a wire from pin 86 on the relay to the 12 volt source.. and thats it, you're done. no more DRLs

final product, make sure your connections are tight and tape everything back up

    pinout diagrams
