In a way this is true. A built Auto will shift faster than most stick shift drivers. Also, for the 1/4 mile brackets or whatever and auto will almost always be more consistent.
In theory you'd think a stick shift would be faster, sure it may get MPG on the highway with the extra gear and lower RPMs. Sure it may have a faster top speed as well. It'll be a better roll racing car too.
In reality. Most of the people out there who have stick shift cars, can't drive them anyway. So generally a stick shift car will be slower because of the driver alone. There ain't many out there who can actully use there stick shift cars to it full advantage.
For me, stick shift does nothing for me. I'm not thrilled about driving one or not. Give me a high stalled, low geared auto with a manual valve body any day of the week...
more gears the better but if you can't shift fast whats the point?
ya a 5 speed could do eather as stated above but if you learn how to drive it good it can be faster, much better for drifting
