Do you guys usually go by the light until it comes on or still your average 3000 miles or how many miles on synthetic?

PS how many miles would you go on synthetic?

Are AC delco filters pretty good or no? thanks

delco filters are good. I usually go about 7000-10000 depending on the driving I have done with synthetic.

Agree that the OEM filter should be good to use. Also, most vehicles today can go at least 4k if not 5k between changes. The exception IMO would be a vehicle still under warranty that does not have an oil life monitor. In that case, follow the owner's manual to keeep the warranty intact.

I have not done my 1st oil change on my 07 yet, and it is at 3500 miles on regular dino oil from the dealer. The life monitor is at 56%. I figure I'll go to 6 months or 30% before I switch it over to Mobil 1.

Then, I will go strictly by the monitor and change it at 20% or 12 months whichever comes 1st.

Ive heard alot of good things about Amsoil, but really never took it into consideration. So you change your oil before you car tells you too?

older cars require more frequent oil changes. newer cars often recommend oil changes every 7500 miles or so

using your oil life monitor to change your synthetic oil is a waste of money. if you're gonna go by your oil life montior you'll be just fine running "dino" oil forever. if you choose synthetic, you can easily go 5-7000 miles between changes, much longer then what your OLM will say to

ac delco filters are alright. out of all the filters ive cut open they're definetley not the best, but they're not the worst. from what ive seen with my own 2 eyes, i would use a wal mart Super Tech before i'd use an AC Delco, as those are actually some very good filters (at least the 3387a made by champion labs is) i personally use and recommend WIX, or Napa Gold

I use a k&N filter it is the same as the mobile one. I just change it when I feel it needs to be done. Usually around 5000 or 7000. I drive my car hard every now and then so I don't want to go too long and plus I live in Iowa and always am on gravel roads.

personally i would run conventional oil and change ever 3000...think about it, running synthetic for 7000 only means the oil is more contaminated and the filter is more clogged and contaminated as welll...plus its still cheaper to buy conventional every 3000 than synthetic every 7000

well i was going to also change the filter at like 3500 miles and add some more oil depending if some came out. I mean it was 16bucks for 5qurts of fully synthetic, i figured ill give it a shot. Everyone has their opinions on oil i guess to. Depends what runs in your blood

    false.
that may be true the very first time, as the synthetic does its "cleaning" but after running it a time or 2, there will be absolutetly nothing there capable of clogging the filter. this is why when you run synthetic or a synthetic blend for the first time, its recommended to change it sooner then normal
synthetic oil doesnt sludge up like conventional,
in fact it does the opposite, cleans! it also conditions seals to prevent cracking/deterioration, it has better flow properties, and it protects better. when you buy synthetic, youre getting ALOT more then just an extended oil change interval
